Diagnosis: Hypertensive gastropathy, status post esophagogastroduodenoscopy
Treatment:Inpatient admission

Summary:
The patient underwent routine EGD and banding of the varix. There was no evidence of variceal bleed pre- and post-op. He did not complain any abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting. He tolerated clear liquid diet well. He could have been safely discharged home after observation post-procedure in the recovery area.
