The patient has a history of atrial fibrillation required anticoagulation. While on a new generation anticoagulant t patient he had a severe hemorrhagic stroke. The use of the Watchman closure device is under review.

Transcatheter Closure of the Left Atrial Appendage is likely to be more beneficial than any standard treatment or treatments for the insured's life threatening or disabling condition or disease.In this setting, the Watchman has been demonstrated safe and effective for attempted atrial fibrillation stroke prevention. Additionally, this individual has essentially no other treatment options. Therefore, the Watchman is indicated in this case.
